In our studio in Cursdorf, just minutes from Lauscha, the birthplace of the glass Christmas ornament, you and your family get to do something you won't find just anywhere: decorate a real, handblown glass ornament, known in Germany as Christbaumschmuck, with your own hands.
Kerstin guides you through the process personally. You pick up a brush, choose your colors, and create something that's entirely yours. Whether that's a classic design, something a little wild, or a motif that means something to your family. When it's done, it goes home with you. Wrapped up, ready to hang, made by you.
No experience needed. Just show up ready to enjoy it.
A favorite with families and school groups, our workshops are also available as a mobile experience. We bring the craft to you. Whether it's a corporate event, a Christmas market, a school visit, or a private celebration, we pack up the workshop and come to your location. Same hands-on experience, your setting.

A Hands-On Glass Ornament Experience in the Heart of Thuringia
You walk in and the light hits you first. Our studio has a stunning glass roof that fills the whole space with natural daylight — the same light our painters work in every day. It feels like somewhere you actually want to stay a little longer.
From there, it's wonderfully simple. You get a real handblown glass ornament, a brush, and a little guidance from us. Then it's yours. Some people know exactly what they want to paint. Others discover it along the way. Children surprise themselves. Adults do too.
By the time you leave, you'll have something in your hands that didn't exist when you arrived. Made by you, in a workshop where this craft has been alive for five generations. That's a feeling worth taking home.

Whether you're planning a school visit, a company event, a private birthday celebration, or a stand at a Christmas market — we'll build the right experience around your group. At our studio in Cursdorf, with its beautiful glass roof and the smell of paint in the air, or packed up and ready to come to you.
Every booking starts with a conversation. You tell us what you're imagining, we figure out the details together, and from there we take care of everything. No two private workshops are quite the same, and that's exactly how we like it.

Just show up
Our open events need no registration and no prior experience. Come as you are, whenever you feel like it during the event hours.
No Age Limit
You are never too young or too old to paint a glass ornament. Little ones from around age 2 are welcome to give it a try and from age 4 it really starts to get fun. And yes, adults love it just as much.
Admission
Our open workshops are free to attend. You only pay for the ornament you decorate and take home. Prices for private bookings are available on request.
